Pharmacy Museum Wedding | New Orleans Wedding Photographer

Weddings at the Pharmacy Museum in New Orleans are some of my favorites. Here’s one bride’s story of planning her wedding at this French Quarter courtyard from afar.

Getting married in New Orleans is a unique and magical experience. The first thing I thought when we began planning our wedding in New Orleans was, “What’s our list of top 3 priorities?” Listing these out helped us isolate the most important items and put our focus on them.

I grew up in New Orleans and have countless memories of the French Quarter. I knew I wanted to stay in the heart of it. It was important for me to feel that deep connection with the city as I walked to the wedding. I saw it as an extended bridal march!

We booked a room at Hotel Royal since it’s located in a central area, charming, and we could have a balcony. This outdoor area allowed us to feel part of the city while still enjoying our privacy. We had precious moments sitting on the balcony, eating pastries, and sharing each other’s company outside of the wedding chaos.

Another top priority was our photographs. We wanted to be confident that our photographer would capture the feeling of the day. I’m glad I found Brei. She photographed our engagements and our wedding. It was like she was our personal photography psychic!

When deciding on a wedding photographer, don’t be afraid to do your research. Look at different portfolios and take note of which photos make your heart swell, and why. Find a photographer that taps into your emotions! It’s so important that you feel comfortable with your photographer, and we did.

Our third #1 priority was having an enclosed courtyard. New Orleans has a plethora of venue options, across a range of aesthetics. Knowing what we wanted most helped narrow down those choices. And we decided on the Pharmacy Museum!

One of the unexpected decisions we made about our wedding was to get a coordinator for the day of the wedding. Even if you think you can handle everything on your own, you should still consider a day-of coordinator. Your wedding day is a time to enjoy all the love surrounding you and your spouse. You shouldn’t have to worry about countless details.

Another worthwhile decision was to have a second line. It’s a quintessential New Orleans experience! The feeling of dancing through the streets with your new spouse while people cheer and the band plays on is indescribable.

When it’s the final countdown, it’s too easy to feel stressed and nervous.

When you start to feel overwhelmed, whether it’s by technical details or family members who mean well, take a moment and look at the person you’re marrying.

Think about all that you’ve been through together and all you’ve yet to experience, and breathe. Everything will be beautiful.
