Kaitlin told me two things when describing what she wanted from her engagement session. The first was that she wanted it to be at Rural Life Museum in Baton Rouge. The second is that she wanted the photos to be timeless and show their love and appreciation for each other. And in my head I’m like ummm this is the jackpot!
Rural Life Museum in Baton Rouge is an awesome venue to take engagement portraits. It’s a space of over 430 acres that is home to the largest collection of Louisiana architecture. Basically, that means it has lots of good photo opportunities. There is a fee to take portraits on the property, but it’s quite nominal and so worth it. Imagine beautiful old Acadian style cottages, Live Oaks dripping with Spanish Moss, and beautiful landscaped gardens all around you. Le sigh…
One of the things I absolutely love about this location is that there is an abundance of space. Fall is a super popular season to take photos in Louisiana, so lots of families and couples might be out on the day you decide to shoot! Rural Life Museum has lots of space to work around each other! But just in case you decide not to do your engagement session here, I have a huge tip for ya about this:
Take the afternoon off of work and get there before the golden hour rush! You’ll have so many more shoot locations if you’re finishing up your session when everyone else is just arriving.
